Campbeltown has the unlikely distinction of being the furthest town from any other on the British mainland. It is the capital of Kintyre, a massive peninsula 54 miles long and never more than 10 miles wide, bordered on one side by the Atlantic and on the other the Firth of Clyde, and extending northwards into the huge sea-loch, Loch Fyne.
Fishing is the bread and butter of this town although there is still some shipbuilding albeit just small fishing vessels. This is a town where you can buy almost everything and the reason we are telling you this is because a lot of small towns in Scotland this is not the case.
Enjoy your visit to Campbeltown and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of Kintyre.
