Oban today is the unofficial capital of the West Highlands - the "Gateway to the Isles". The panoramic views of the mountains, lochs and islands from here are stunning.
Oban and the surrounding area is bristling with things to do and see. Such a historic location means that there are of course many castles and standing stones to visit. McCaig's Tower overlooks the town and is well worth the short (if uphill !) walk from the town centre to see the view.
