Tarbert is a small fishing village that lies on the edge of Loch Fyne, but is also the start of the Kintyre Penninsular. Tarbert, with its splendid natural harbour supports a busy fishing fleet thankful of its shelter and protection of Robert the Bruce's 13th Century Castle.
This is the most peaceful of villages with some absolutely stunning scenery of the harbour. You can stand and watch the fishing boats and the crews preparing to go on their fishing trips.
For a tiny community there are plenty of shops selling all types of goods, this village is well worth a visit.
You have to go through Tarbert if you are going to journey onto the Mull of Kintyre and it is a worthy feeding place so you can enjoy the rest of your trip.
